Welcome to /k/, 4chan's weapons board. Our board centers around weapons, armor, and other myriad military technology. While guns are the primary topic, threads involving any other sort of weapons, from swords and knives to tanks and jet fighters, come up frequently as well. If you're new, we suggest reading the sticky at http://amagicalplace.wikia.com/wiki/Sticky to get acquainted with the board's subject matter.

Before posting a thread, please check our catalog to ensure that a thread about the same topic does not already exist.

Is it true that Cold War era Soviet planes and tanks were much better than their American counterparts?

Nah, add actual tank crews they have to work with similar to GHPC, force cupola view, give gun barrels a collision model, stretch out all maps such that 800m is the average engagement distance, flatten all maps and remove gamey cover people can hide behind, offset gunsights, no markers, add smoke artillery.

They'll learn how to actually tank real quick.
>>
>>61273254
Yeah. I wonder why they left the ground "sim mode" to rot. They could easily make a proper simulation, but more approachable. Easily controlled with mouse, with multiplayer matchmaking.
There's a huge fucking market for this.
>>
>>61273265
Probably because they figured out whales are legitimately too stupid to actually use the tanks they're offering in a realistic scenario, so the game itself had to be limited. A similar thing happens in DCS believe it or not. Retards want their switch clicking epic fighter pilot simulator to scratch the itch that they (bald white IT men in their 30s to 50s) had when they were like 9, but without any of the IRL pesky annoying shit that comes with being an actual fighter pilot.

They don't even understand why you wouldn't want to drop drop tanks. They're that fucking retarded. The concept of "maybe don't drop several hundred pounds of metal on random shit for no reason bro, those things cost money" doesn't occur to them naturally. But they want to feel like fighter pilots, and they have tons of money, so DCS is built to extract said money from them.

I hate it too anon.
>>
>>61273018
No you fucking idiot. Satellite copies were not better in any way and were lacking a lot of features. Deliberately so - you wouldn't want potential defectors delivering the latest tech right across the border.
Czech/German/Polish versions were for example never fitted with ATGMs (Bastion, Svir, Refleks) or APS (Drozd) and had downgraded fire control system.
The local modernizations during cold war limited to appliqué armour. T-54/55 were refitted with some features from T-72, like laser rangefinders, but that's really the gist of it.
Only in the 90s were Czech T-72M4 rebuilt with optics from Ariete, engine used on Challenger and Allison transmission derived from the one used on M109.
>>
>>61273018
Our industry standards were high as fuck even back then so that might be true. It's still russian design though. We produced some panzerwagens during the WWII and they were all well made.

What is its purpose? I'm unfamiliar with your laws so I don't know if you're looking for a concealed carry gun or just a range toy. Is there a specific capacity limit? Size? Weight? Etc.
>>
>>61273119
This is not for concealed carry, right? I agree that Gucci Glocks are gay and that CZs are pretty nice, though I don't personally own one. Do you want a striker fired or hammer fired gun? Single action or DA/SA? Here in burgerland I mostly shoot and carry DA/SA HKs. I'm very fond of my USP 45 with the match trigger for target shooting and my P30 for target shooting and concealed carry.
>>
>>61273119
Whatever it is it should be optic ready
>>
>>61273130
>>61273144
>purpose
target practice and just having a good time on the range. I’m kind of a TEOTWAWKI larper so reliability and durability is high up on my list.
Concealed Carry is may issue but very few people actually get the permit.
I’m 6‘7 so even in a SHTF larp scenario I could conceal a full size gun if necessary.
Hammer fired has more soul than striker fired but ultimately I’m fine with either. Optics are nice but I can get the slide milled so OR isn’t required

At what point do you start chopping up good existing guns for RMRs, or just buy a gun already designed and cut out to mount one?

Is it really worth mangling something like a 92, and what would be the cost to have a gunsmith cut out the slide for one?

The tumble on some napalm canisters was more so the napalm would get spread over a large area once the canister was broken, and to make sure the canisters don't continue in an arc in the direction of travel like a normal bomb would.
It's also both helps the dropping aircraft get away from the fireball at low altitude, and helps make sure they separate from the aircraft in a reliable way.
IIRC there were also some incendiary bombs/canisters that could be used either way depending on what nosecone and tail assembly was attached, either dropped from low altitude in a tumbling state or from higher altitude using a bombsight.

1) the old testament is mostly overridden by the new testament. The reason to keep it in the bible was the strategic plan to convert as many as possible jews in the creation of Christianity. The muslims did the same, and so did newer sects.
2) the core lessons of the bible are absolute pacifism, charity and other things which do not align with anything remotely right leaning

So what weapons will we see the Serbs use? They bought HQ-22 surface-to-air missile systems and CH-92 armed drones from China last year and I think they have more Chinese systems. Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vucic seems like he's going to be using them soon.

>>61269034
I've done it with imr 4227 and 40gr vmax
Worked great for cutting down the fireball of a 7.5" barrel
It's basically just a really loud 22 hornet, it'd be great for a little varmint rifle which is what my plan for it was but it was still pretty stupid so I gave the barrel to a friend.
A silencer makes it a much better idea, even with a powder that doesn't make a fireball, it's still loud as fuck because of all the pressure at the muzzle.
>>61269160
I've actually done it, 5.7 out of any length barrel shrimply cannot compare to 223 out of a 7.5 barrel

I own one pistol and my wife says I can buy one more gun. What should I get? Here’s the predicted outcome:

>have my Hellcat Pro
>dad is going to give me his old 500 later this year so it doesn’t count and won’t need a shotgun
>wife wants to learn to shoot and carry the one she gets won’t count, I’ll get her something too big for her like a vp9 or a Beretta 92
>she won’t like it so I’ll get her something smaller and keep the full size but it still won’t count as my purchase
>bolt action hunting rifle probably wont count because I always borrow my BIL’s when we go and she will like that I’m getting one to spend time with her brother

So what should my one gun purchase be? Types of gun and model specifics are appreciated.

Thanks anon. I understand these are old and saw a few penetration tests which looked ok-ish. I just want lever action that's not gonna ruin me financially like the 45-70 but it is still good for hunting and home defense.

>Are these calibers able to penetrate body armor when shot from a rifle

Most actual rifle rounds won't go through level 4 plates. You're better off training to shoot them in the dick (pelvic girdle)
